Professor Zhao Chao from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, was elected as Vice President of the International Council of Design
Recently, the General Assembly of International Council of Design (ico-D), known as the “UNGA of the design community", was held in Vancouver, Canada. Representatives from more than 50 design institutions from over 20 countries jointly discussed issues on design communication, promotion, cooperation, education, etc. The ico-D General Assembly elected a new executive committee, which is composed of eight design experts from Canada, the United States, South Africa, China, Malaysia, Italy, Jordan, and Lithuania, including one President and four Vice Presidents. Johnathon Strebly, the President of Graphic Designers of Canada, took the post of President of the Executive Committee, and Professor Zhao Chao from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, was elected as Vice President, thus becoming a member of the executive committee of ico-D from 2019 to 2021.

After the Vancouver General Assembly, the International Council of Design (ico-D) also held a forum, bringing together international design experts and representatives from different cultures, different design institutions, and design colleges, to conduct in-depth face-to-face discussions in the form of lectures, group discussions, and workshops.
Founded in 1963, the International Council of Design (ico-D) is the world's largest association for professional design, with members representing design education institutions, professional design organizations, design promotion agencies, and professional designers in over 65 countries, covering all majors in the field of design, such as graphic design, architecture, landscape design, industrial design, information interaction design, and costume design.
