The famous Chinese violinist Sheng Zhongguo and his famous wife Japanese pianist Ms. Seta Hiroko together performed a memorable concert on the night of May 28 in the Tsinghua Auditorium.
One of China’s outstanding musicians in modern times, Sheng Zhongguo is commonly referred to as the “Chinese Menuhin”, equating him in stature to Yehudi Menuhin, the famous émigré before World War II from Europe to America who is generally considered to be the most accomplished violinist of the 20th Century. Like Menuhin, Sheng Zhongguo has the respect and admiration of music professionals and audiences throughout China. He is praised as an outstanding musician and the most charming violinist. Sheng Zhongguo was one of the earliest soloists to earn great honor for China in the international arena.
Mr. Sheng also instructed a student from Tsinghua’s philharmonic orchestra in the playing of the violin. Vice Chairman of the University Council Han Jingyang attended the concert.
