Professor Mary Jacobus, Grace 2 Professor of English and Director of the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities at the University of Cambridge, was appointed Guest Professor of Tsinghua University on April 2.
Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe attended the conferral ceremony and presented the honorary appointment book to Professor Mary Jacobus.
“Professor Jacobus visited Tsinghua last year. During her visit, we had delightful meetings and view exchanges about extending academic collaborations between our two universities,” said Vice President Xie.
Professor Jacobus delivered a speech entitled "Versioning, Voyaging, Tracing: Rilke and Twombly on the Nile" after the ceremony. Professor Luo Lisheng, Dean of the Department of Foreign Languages, hosted the ceremony.
Professor Jacobus is a distinguished scholar of English Literature, who has made international headlines for her work in Romanticism, feminism, and psychoanalysis.
