A Tsinghua delegation, led by President GU Binglin, paid visits to partner universities in Europe from 18 to 26 January. The visited universities include Royal Institute of Technology and Uppsala University in Sweden, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in Holland, Ecolo Polytech Fedrale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology-Zurich (ETH) in Switzerland.
From 22 to 23 January, Tsinghua and TU Delft had a “1st Joint Scientific Workshop” to mark their 25 years collaboration and to broaden and deepen the partnership. President GU and President van Luijk signed “Memorandum of Understanding on Further Research Collaboration” on behalf of both universities. The Chinese Ambassador Madam XUE Hanqin attended the workshop and addressed on Sino-Switzerland relations. The workshop contained 3 plenary sessions and 8 parallel sessions and round table discussions covering the area of aerospace, radiation for energy and health, electrical engineering, policy and management, marketing and communication, etc.
The delegation members included professors from School of Information Science and Technology, School of Aerospace, School of Economics and Management, Department of Material Science and Engineering, Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua Graduate School and Shenzhen Graduate School. They participated academic seminars together with their counterparts in every partner university who have the same research interests, and explored the possible collaboration areas in the future.
