Nobel Prize winner James Watson visited Tsinghua and talked with the students in the main building on October 18 .

The lecture hall was packed with excited students, who greeted the great scientist with warm applause as he made his entrance. During the talk, Dr. Watson andwered several questions from the students on topics including interdisciplinary study, research methods, and development of biology.
Watson, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962 for the discovery of DNA double helix model, is also an expert in genetics, genomics and molecular biology.
Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe met with Dr. Watson prior to the talk, giving an outline of Tsinghua’s recent development.

Professor Cheng Jing from School of Medicine, Professor Liu Dong from the Department of Biological Science and Biotechnology, and Professor Wu Qingyu from the Department of Biological Science and Biotechnology, attended the speech.
