Tsinghua University’s outstanding teachers were honored at a ceremony to celebrate the Teacher’s Day on September 8. The teachers were commended for their exceptional teaching and research in 2005.
Attending the meeting were Tsinghua President Gu Binglin, Chairman of the University Council Chen Xi, Senior Administrator Zhuang Lijun, Vice President Kang Kejun, Vice President Wang Jinsong, and Vice President Hu Heping.
Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin extended congratulations to the honorees on behalf of the university. He stressed the importance of passion in university teaching and research. He also mentioned the importance of responsibility in teaching.
Professor Chen, the University Council Chairman, noted that Tsinghua has always given great importance to the development of its faculty. Good faculty is the treasure of the university, said Professor Chen.
The recognition went to the Tsinghua Award for outstanding contribution and some Beijing and university level awards.
A total of nearly 200 teachers attended the ceremony.
