The Tsinghua Track and Field Team won the group championship of the 44th Capital Universities Track and Field Games on May 21st. It was Tsinghua’s 12th consecutive crown in the annual games.
After four-day’s fierce competition in 40 events, the Tsinghua student athletes brought home 17 champions, including the men’s and women’s 100-metre dash, the men’s and women’s 4×100 relay race, the men’s and women’s triple jump, the men’s and women’s 10-kilometer walk.
Hu Kai, champion of the men’s 100-metre dash in the 23rd World University Games, won two gold medals respectively in the men’s 100-metre dash and 200-metre dash. He has won altogether 11 university champion titles.
Wang Ying, champion of the women’s triple jump in the 23rd World University Games, won two gold medals in the women’s long jump and triple jump.
Emphasis on sports and physical exercise is one of Tsinghua’s traditions since it was founded 95 years ago.
