A brand new micro electric vehicle “Hali” is presented by the Department of Automotive Engineering (DAE) of Tsinghua University recently. The debut of this prototype will meet the enormous market demand for cheap and clean transportation in china. Designed for the Chinese city office worker, “Hali” brings a new concept to the way of how people think of city transportation.
With the increase of oil price and the serious environment pollution problem, the demand for economic clean city transportation in china becoming an urge issue. Clean, Clever and Simple are the key words for the design concept of this micro EV “Hali”. Powered by two rear wheel electric motor, the top speed of “Hali” can reach to about 30km/h. The full charged battery set can support the vehicle cruise for 50 kilometers. The styling design of “Hali” is full of Chinese aesthetic characters. The distinguished head lights and smooth body lines forms a congenial yet confident friendly appearance. Another unique attribute of “Hali” is the innovative 1 front seat and 2 rear seats interior layout package. This 1+2 interior layout is economic and can fulfill most of the Chinese family’s daily life need according to the market investigation which is carried out earlier by DAE. With the 2.5 meter long, 1.1 meter wide and 1.55 meter high body size, the EV can shuttle very easily in the crowded Chinese city especially like big cities in the east of China.
This micro EV is designed by a group of graduate and undergraduate students who got a lot of direction from the professors of DAE. It takes 5 months to complete this project from market research to the final assembly of the prototype. Mr. Zhang Xiaoyu, president of SAE-china council highly recommended the design concept of this micro EV on April 30th when he presented the 95th anniversary of Tsinghua University’s foundation. He said that the minimization of automobile is becoming a strong trend in china and will have a huge market room in the near future.
