Tsinghua University’s Department of Physics celebrated its 80th anniversary on April 29, with a ceremony attended by over 1,000 academicians, department alumni and guests.
President Gu extended congratulation to Department of Physics. Wang Dazhong, Honorary Chairman of the University Council, and Senior Administrator Zhang Zaixing also attended the event.
Founded in 1926, the Department of Physics is one of the first departments established in Tsinghua University. Renowned physicist Wang Ganchang, Nobel Prize winner C.N.Yang, and Nobel Prize winner Tsung-Dao Lee are all graduates of the department.
About 82 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering have studied or worked in the department.
