The Ministry of Education has appointed Professor Chen Xu as Senior Administrator for Student Affairs of Tsinghua University.
MOE has also appointed Professor Hu Heping and Professor Chen Jining as vice presidents of Tsinghua.
Professor Chen Xu
Professor Chen Xu received her Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua in 2005. Prior to her new appointment as senior administrator, she was a professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering and Deputy Director of the Steering Committee for Student Affairs of the University. Her primary areas of research are ultra-high vacuum techniques, ultra-high sensitive leak detection, and mass spectrometry.
Professor Hu Heping
Professor Hu Heping earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Tokyo University in 1995. He was formerly director of the the Human Resources Office. His main research fields are hydrological modeling, water resource utilization and planning, flood control and disaster mitigation, and irrigation and drainage.
Professor Chen Jining
Professor Chen Jining was head of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering before being named a vice president. Professor Chen holds an honorary degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University (1986) and a Ph.D. in Environmental System Analysis from Imperial College, London (1992). His research interests include environmental systems analysis, water resources and environmental policy, integrated river basin planning and management, non-point sources pollution control and sustainable cities.
