Three Tsinghua faculty have been chosen as new members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), the CAE announced Dec. 13.
They are: Professor Hao Jiming, from the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (Division of Agriculture, Light and Textile Industries and Environment Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Engineering); Professor Chen Bingzhen, from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Division of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, CAE); and Professor An Jigang from the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (Division of Energy and Mining Engineering, CAE).
The election of new members of CAE is conducted biennially. In 2005, CAE elected a total of 50 new members. Membership in the Chinese Academy of Engineering is the highest academic rank in engineering science and technology in China.
To date, Tsinghua has 31 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
