Dr. Jeffrey S. Lehman, former president of Cornell University, visited Tsinghua on September 19. Tsinghua President Gu Binglin welcomed Dr. Lehman to campus.
In his speech to a symposium at the Education Research Institute, Dr. Lehman talked about how to build a world-class research university. He noted that in order for a university to become great, it must have a deep understanding of itself, be able to view itself with a critical eye, have internal diversity, and connect with other universities.
After the speech, Dr. Lehman exchanges ideas with teachers and students of the Education Research Institute.
Dr. Lehman also visited the School of Law.
