The three-week English Summer Camp for Tsinghua freshmen concluded July 14 with a ceremony to thank all of the participants for their hard work.
In his remarks for the closing event, Vice President Wang Jinsong called the English Summer Camp 2005 “a great success” that came about due to “the joint efforts of both Chinese and international teachers and volunteers and the students.”
He also thanked the foreign teachers and volunteers for their contributions, saying that their hard work contributed greatly to the success of the event. He said he appreciated their spirit of cooperation and teamwork demonstrated at the Camp, which was attended by more than 3,200 students.
Wang Wenxin, representing the Chinese teachers, Katie Jones, a foreign teacher, and Tang Can, a student representative of the students, also spoke at the ceremony.
The Singing Competition Final -- the culmination of contests held for the students during the Camp – was held prior to the ceremony.
Following the success of the first English Summer Camp in July-August last year, Tsinghua launched its second Camp on June 27 for students who have just completed their freshman year.
